Pain-Free Carrot Ginger Smoothie

As we move through midlife, lower estrogen can do a number on our joints and bone health. If you struggle with chronic pain, this smoothie is an easy, delicious way to add in anti-inflammatory, pain-reducing spices like ginger and turmeric, collagen to replace that lost in our joints, and calcium-rich kale and almonds for strong bones. Carrots and kale contain Vitamin K which helps prevent osteoporosis while bananas contain potassium for healthy joints. Most of all, its just yummy!

Ingredients

  • 1 carrot, chopped into chunks

  • 1 banana

  • 1 cup kale, shredded

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated (or dried ground)

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, ground

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extra

  • 1 scoop collagen peptides (I like Further Food bovine collagen for joint health) or sub in a plant-based protein powder

Instructions

Blend together with 1-2 cups pure filtered water and ice.
