Flaxseed Latte

Flaxseeds are such a versatile superfood for women and this warm, comforting drink is a wonderful way to care for your digestion and hormones. Among their many benefits, flaxseeds can enhance digestion by promoting bowel movements, lowers levels of cholesterol in the blood, help with weight management and help reduce symptoms of menopause.

Makes two servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed or whole flaxseeds

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon virgin coconut oil

  • 2 bag of your favorite herbal tea (cinnamon, ginger or chai are super tasty!)

  • 4 oz. almond or coconut milk

  • OPTIONAL: dollop of raw honey

Instructions

  1. Mix flaxseed and cinnamon in a small saucepan. Pour 2 cups of pure filtered water, add 2 tea bags and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer 15 minutes covered.

  2. Strain and pour into two mugs.

  3. Dissolve coconut oil in to mixture and blend. This would be a perfect job for a frother!

  4. Add almond or coconut milk and honey, if desired, to taste.
